Opposition figure Yair Lapid described Israel's election outcome as a victory "on points" for the anti-Netanyahu camp, even though the result fell short of a clear majority, according to a report by The Times of Israel. "A win is a win," Lapid said, arguing that while voters didn't hand his side a decisive mandate, the result nonetheless leaves Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with no viable path to form a government on his own, since his Likud-led bloc won only 53 seats against the 68 the outgoing coalition held.

The anti-Netanyahu camp's four Jewish-led parties and two Arab-led parties together won a combined 67 seats, past the 61-seat majority threshold, but three of those Jewish-led parties, Yashar, B'Yachad and Yisrael Beytenu, have ruled out formal coalition partnerships with the Arab-led parties despite their record 19-seat combined showing. That self-imposed limit leaves the opposition unable to translate its numerical combined strength into an actual governing majority through ordinary coalition-building.

Lapid urged the public to be patient, describing coalition negotiations as a necessarily slow, discreet process and warning that premature public statements could jeopardize delicate talks. Democrats chairman Yair Golan pushed back on the exclusion of Arab parties from consideration, arguing that democratic principle requires including all elected representatives regardless of ethnicity.
