London's Metropolitan Police reviewed a social-media post by journalist Sarah Helm, wife of a senior UK prime ministerial security adviser, and concluded it did not meet the threshold for a criminal investigation, The Times of Israel reported. Helm had written on X, "God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action," referencing the activist group the UK government banned as a terrorist organization.

The post came in response to publisher Faber's decision to halt UK sales of Irish author Sally Rooney's books over her support for Palestine Action. Police specialists who assessed Helm's post determined it "did not meet the criminal threshold" for further action.

Palestine Action was proscribed following a break-in at RAF Brize Norton in June 2025, and under that ban, expressing support for the group is itself a criminal offense in the UK, which is what prompted scrutiny of Helm's post in the first place. The Campaign Against Antisemitism had called for an investigation and urged the aide to "publicly denounce this rhetoric."

Helm, a journalist who has previously written for the Sunday Times and the Independent, has long taken a critical public stance on Israel through her social media account, which has more than 1,000 followers.
